The CNNV is a national resource supported by the National Institutes of Health since 2004 to serve the scientific community in the following ways.
Serve as a technical and intellectual resource for investigators interested in using viral transneuronal tracing to study the functional organization of the nervous system.
Develop improved transneuronal tracing technology and make it available to investigators through access to CNNV reagents and training.
Serve as a repository for well-characterized reagents essential for informed and reproducible application of the method.
Stimulate collaborative multidisciplinary studies of mechanisms underlying viral neuroinvasiveness and pathogenesis.
